(Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017) — Cultural Reflections - Our Latino Treasures is a group of works now on display in the City Hall Link Gallery celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month. Video and sound displays, as well as traditional costumes and art from the Caribbean, Central and South America are on exhibit alongside paintings and jewelry pieces by talented contemporary artists of various disciplines.

Traditional costumes include historical to contemporary clothing and crafts from small indigenous communities to larger cities throughout the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Mexico. Examples include pre-Columbian archaeological pieces from Ecuador, colorful dresses from Dominican Republic, meticulous embroideries from the Shipibo people of Peru and handwoven Molas from the Kuna people of Panama.

Paintings by Victor "RANGE" Zarate, a graffiti and tattoo artist, are on display highlighting his style with acrylic, oil, airbrush, spray paint and markers. A visual display featuring video and sound by José Luis Macas Paredes of Quito, Ecuador adorns a portion of the gallery. Jewelry and metalwork by Juan Carlos Caballero-Perez are also featured.

Cultural Reflections - Our Latino Treasures will be on exhibit through October 23, 2017. A reception will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., featuring music and refreshments as participating artists are recognized.
