News Release - RPD Captain Singletary Earns International Recognition

(Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017) – Rochester Police Captain LaRon Singletary has been named an International Association of Chiefs of Police 40 Under 40 Award winner.

“I am honored to congratulate Captain Singletary, whom I have known since he was a young officer,” said Deputy Mayor Cedric Alexander, a former Chief of the Rochester Police Department (RPD). “At a young age, Captain Singletary has come to represent the highest standards of professionalism and dedication to public service that are the hallmarks of the RPD. It gives me great pleasure to see that he has now distinguished himself, and his Department, among his law enforcement peers on an international level.”

Captain Singletary, 37, is a 17-year veteran of the RPD. He was born and raised in Rochester and is a graduate of John Marshall High School. He currently works in the Administrative Services Division and has held positions as patrol officer; crime prevention officer; public information officer; aide to the chief of police; investigative sergeant in the Professional Standards Section; patrol sergeant and patrol lieutenant; and staff duty officer. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy for law enforcement professionals.

According to the IACP website, the annual IACP 40 Under 40 Award recognizes 40 law enforcement professionals under the age of 40 from around the world who demonstrate leadership and exemplify commitment to their profession. The dedicated law enforcement professionals selected for the 2017 IACP 40 Under 40 award are current and up-and-coming leaders. They serve every day as crime analysts, special agents, troopers, chiefs, commissioners, lieutenants and captains, among other roles, and they represent all types and sizes of law enforcement agencies, including state, local, federal and military from around the world.
