JOSANA Habitat for Humanity Project

JOSANA Habitat for Humanity

Project involves the construction of affordable single family homes by Habitat in the JOSANA neighborhood. The JOSANA neighborhood is bounded by Jay / W. Broad / Campbell / Child Streets. Habitat selects families that are income eligible according to it’s criteria, and that will earn no more than 60% of the area median income; the families must also have the ability to finance housing costs of $450 per month, plus utilities.  The families contribute sweat equity of 100 hours to the community and must attend seven (7) workshops on home ownership. In return, Habitat provides a 20-year mortgage with an interest rate of 0%.  The City sells suitably located and adequately sized vacant lots to Habitat and gives Habitat a grant of $15,000 per new home built, to be used toward construction costs.
