Southwest Quadrant Service Center

Welcome! We look forward to working with you to make the Southwest Quadrant a better place to live, work, play and raise a family. From Jefferson Avenue (our Focused Investment area) to the 19th Ward neighborhoods, your Quadrant Team and Service Center staff will work with our community partners to resolve quality of life issues, pave the way for appropriate housing and economic development, and help make Southwest Rochester the best it can be.

The City of Rochester and the SUNY College at Brockport Institute for Poverty Studies and Economic Development, with support from NeighborWorks Rochester, the Southwest Common Council and the Rochester Area Community Foundation are pleased to present a pilot training program:

The Community Leadership Training Program is being designed to help neighborhood leaders and future leaders build the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for success in playing a key role in shaping the future of our community. This unique pilot program has been community-driven from the start. Citizens advised us what kinds of skill development would be most useful.  The topics selected for this pilot program are a direct result of feedback received from forums and surveys conducted in 2016.

In a five session program, participants will refine existing skills and learn new ones in an informal but energetic setting.  Topic areas will include Team Building, Conflict Resolution, Community Planning and the Role of the Citizen, and Serving on City Boards and Commissions.

Anyone affiliated with an existing or new neighborhood association with an interest in giving of their time to make Rochester the best that it can be is invited to apply.  We encourage participation by people who are currently in leadership roles in the community as well as those who are considering taking on a leadership role in the future.  A certificate of completion will be awarded to those who attend all sessions.

We are now accepting applications for the Spring 2017 Southwest Pilot Leadership Academy Program Orientation and classes.  The application deadline is Friday, February 24, 2017 by 5:00 p.m.  Space is limited. Apply to reserve your spot today!
