(Wednesday,
June 8, 2022) – Mayor Malik D. Evans was joined today by elected
officials, city leaders, and business owners Mike Clarq and John Albert at a
ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Carnegie Cellars Wine
Bar & Kitchen, located at 247 N. Goodman St., across from the Village Gate
in the Neighborhood of the Arts (NOTA).
“We are delighted to celebrate the grand opening of
Carnegie Cellars,” said Mayor Evans. “We welcome the increased quality of life
for citizens through this investment in our local economy and addition to our
culinary landscape and dining options. Local businesses like Carnegie Cellars
contribute to the vibrancy of our neighborhoods while creating more employment
opportunities for our residents.”
“Carnegie Cellars is brilliantly simplistic”, said
Mike Clarq. “Everyone can enjoy great food and fine wine in an inspiring
environment in one of the most diverse and energetic neighborhoods of
Rochester.”
Carnegie Cellars’ owners renovated the 1,700 square-foot
space into an elegant and sophisticated restaurant where customers can enjoy a
robust and unique selection of hand-selected wines from five distributors from
around the world, and local favorites from the Niagara region and the Finger
Lakes.
The restaurant also houses a commissioned sculpture
created by Sam Casten, who worked with Albert Paley, as well as paintings by
local artist, Lynne Feldman.
