Motorist Advisory - Flower City Challenge to Alter Several Traffic Patterns This Weekend(1)

(Thursday, April 20, 2023) – The Half Marathon and 5K races associated with the Rochester Regional Health System Flower City Challenge will impact traffic on Saturday, April 22 and the morning of Sunday, April 23. The race begins on the Broad Street Bridge Downtown at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday and will take runners through various city neighborhoods.

The following street will be closed to traffic starting Saturday, April 22:
• Broad Street Bridge: 5 p.m., Sat., April 22 – 1 p.m. Sun., April 23

The following streets will be closed to traffic on Sunday, April 23:
• Court Street Bridge: 7:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
• W. Main Street; Madison Street; Brown Street; Morrie Silver Way; N. Plymouth Avenue; E. Main St.: 7:15 – 9 a.m.
• E. Main Street from State Street to East Avenue; East Avenue; Pitkin Street; Argyle Street; Park Avenue; S. Goodman Street; South Avenue from Main Street to Court Street: 7:45 – 9 a.m.
• S. Goodman Street from Park Avenue to Pinetum Drive; Exit 17 from I-490: 8 –10 a.m.
• Pinetum Drive; South Goodman Street; Doctors Street; Mt. Vernon Avenue; Alpine Street; South Avenue; Robinson Drive; Mt. Hope Avenue; Ford Street Bridge: 8 – 11 a.m.
• Exchange Boulevard; Ford Street; W. Broad Street: 8:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

The following intersections will not be closed but will experience delays:
• S. Plymouth Avenue at W. Broad Street
• Exit 13 from I-490 will be directed south on Brown Street
• S. Clinton Avenue at E. Main Street
• Chestnut Street at East Avenue
• Scio Street at East Avenue
• Pitkin Street at East Avenue
• Alexander Street at East Avenue
• Street Crossings at Park Avenue
• Harvard Street at S. Goodman Street
• Monroe Avenue at S. Goodman Street
• S. Clinton Avenue at S. Goodman (Access to Route I-490 East only)
• South Avenue at Alpine Street/Robinson Drive
• Mt. Hope Avenue at Robinson Drive
• Wilson Boulevard at Elmwood Avenue (access to and from Wilson Boulevard from Elmwood Avenue during peak runner times will be restricted. Use Intercampus Drive, Ford Street or McLean Street)

All times are approximate. Local residential traffic will be accommodated, but delayed. Residents are encouraged to avoid street parking along the course.
