City of Rochester
News Release
(Tuesday, May 16,
2023) – As part of the City’s
Percent for the Arts program, Mayor Malik D. Evans announced that $100,000 is
available for ArtsBloom, an initiative to fund arts education, performing arts and temporary art
programming across Rochester. The City has issued a Request For Proposals (RFP)
to facilitate selection of projects that will receive funding.
“We are fortunate to
have a talented, diverse and thriving creative community here, and I am excited
that the City will support those individuals and organizations through
ArtsBloom,” said Mayor Malik D. Evans. “By opening up new opportunities for
every resident to experience the arts near where they live, we will create
opportunities for people to connect with one another and their neighborhoods in
new and inspiring ways.”
The Percent for the Arts
program aligns with the City’s vision for a more dynamic and equitable city of
and for the arts as outlined in the Arts
& Culture section of the Rochester 2034
Comprehensive Plan. The concept for ArtsBloom was developed in partnership
with an advisory panel of local artists and arts community members called the
Arts and Creative Community Committee (AC3).
The ArtsBloom RFP can be
found at www.cityofrochester.gov/artsbloom.
The deadline to submit proposals is 5 p.m., June 1.
