Rochester Riverside Convention Center (RRCC) Building Envelope Repairs and Main Street Addition
About the Project
The original 2018 ROC the Riverway Vision Plan conceptualized a small addition on the southeast corner of the Rochester Riverside Convention Center (RRCC), along with terrace and river wall improvements. Throughout the design process, it became apparent that a building addition facing Main Street would have a far greater positive impact for the RRCC due to both the location and amount of expanded event space. The addition will create a modernized and inviting connection to Main Street that will improve local and visitor experiences, leveraging the recently completed Main Street Streetscape Phase II project. The project will include much-needed capital improvements to the existing facility including, but not limited to, a Main Street addition, an LED display panel for RRCC events, additional landscape planters, ADA accessibility improvements to the south terrace, new restrooms within the facility, and critical repairs of the exterior building envelope and site. Opportunities to achieve additional ROC the Riverway goals, including advancing connectivity along the Genesee River by expansion of the riverfront terrace and trail system to the Broad Street Bridge, will be developed and constructed in parallel with the Aqueduct Reimagined initiative.
Project Design and Construction
- Design and Engineering: Stantec Consulting Services Inc., with sub-consultants Architectural P.C., Popli Design Group, Lozier Environmental, and Vargas Associates were selected through the City’s Request for Proposals (RFP) process to provide engineering and design services for the project.
- Construction Management: Liro Engineers, Inc.
- General Construction: Javen Construction Co., Inc.
- Mechanical: Crosby-Brownlie, Inc.
- Electrical: Invictus Electrical, LLC
Anticipated Project Schedule
- Preliminary Design and State Environmental Quality Review Act: Spring 2021 - Fall 2023
- Final Design and Contract Documents: Spring 2024
- Bidding and Award: Spring – Fall 2024
- Construction Start: Fall 2024
- Completion: 2026
