Domestic Partnership

Purpose

Persons eighteen years or older who are financially codependent, not married to, separated or in a domestic partnership with another person, have been living together for at least six months, and meet other requirements (if you were in a domestic partnership,  a six month waiting period is required before applying for another one), may apply for a Domestic Partnership. It is often used to establish health insurance coverage. A formal certificate is provided.

Signatures must be provided in person along with a Government issued photo ID and verification of current address. If you would like to apply for a Domestic Partnership, please arrive by 4:30 p.m. Download a Domestic Partnership Application.

Fee

$50; a replacement copy of the certificate costs $10; termination of a Partnership costs $50, and certain requirements must be met. Make checks payable to the "City of Rochester."
