***THE DEADLINE FOR THE HOW WE ROC PROGRAM RFP HAS PASSED***

The objective of the How We ROC program is to capture and showcase the diverse spirit of Rochester through the lenses of local photographers. This project is designed to provide a vibrant and authentic portrayal of major City events and the unique character of our community, reflecting the rich tapestry of Rochester’s cultural and social fabric. By highlighting the talent and perspectives of Rochester’s photographers, the initiative aims to offer a compelling visual narrative that celebrates the city’s diversity and promotes inclusive representation.

Selected photographers will be provided expanded-access media credentials for at least six City-sponsored concerts, festivals and other special celebrations to submit 10 to 15 images from each event for promotional use. They will also receive an opportunity to curate a photography exhibit in the City Hall Link Gallery using their medium to offer visitors a captivating glimpse ‘through their lenses’ at the vibrancy and vitality on display when Rochester's distinct communities gather to celebrate special events. To support this creative journey, the City of Rochester will provide photographers a one-year media pass to major City events and $1,500 to support their services and exhibit production.

Aligned with the City of Rochester's commitment to equity and its goals outlined in the Arts & Culture section of the Rochester 2034 Comprehensive Plan, the How We ROC initiative strives to ensure that all voices and perspectives are represented in the city’s artistic landscape. This effort underscores the value of community-driven artistic expression and supports equitable opportunities for local artists to thrive and contribute to the city's cultural enrichment.
