Bridget A. Monroe is a longtime resident of Rochester’s Northwest district, where she’s planted her roots, raised her family and dedicated herself to bettering the lives of her neighbors. From 1998 to 2014, Bridget worked as an analyst for Rochester City Council, contributing to a variety of projects including the revision of the Zoning Code and the completion of the 2000 Comprehensive Plan. Bridget helped build infrastructure to bring living wages to Rochester residents, and protect tenants and homeowners from the dangers of lead paint.
A lifelong Democrat, Bridget believes firmly in a Rochester that rejects racism, sexism, homophobia and bigotry of any kind. As a Rochester City Councilmember, Bridget has made it her mission to see the Northwest better represented in City government, and see all of Rochester’s neighborhoods prioritized and uplifted.
From 2014 to 2017, Bridget was a member of the Administration’s senior management team, where she managed the legislative process and oversaw communications with Council. Now, Bridget works as the Assistant to the Town Supervisor of Brighton, where she has helped construct the town’s recently adopted Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Action Plan.
Bridget is also a devout volunteer within the community, offering her time to organizations throughout Rochester. She serves on the board of Mercy Community Services, and advocates for parents and students in the RCSD as a board member of the Genesee Valley Parent Teacher Association.
Bridget earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Government and Women’s Studies at Smith College in Massachusetts. |
