News Release - Families Invited to 3rd Annual Play in Nature Event

(Tuesday, June 26, 2023)  To encourage more young people to explore the outdoors, the City's Department of Recreation and Human Services will host the 3rd Annual Play in Nature event, 1-3 p.m., Saturday, July 8 at Lower Maplewood Park, 107 Bridgeview Dr.

Families can enjoy free nature-themed crafts and games and take part in guided walks. Participating youth can enter raffles to win free bicycles, scooters, and helmets. Local nature-based organizations will be on hand to discuss their programs and activities.

Other activities include information about the upcoming plans for the Maplewood Nature Center, the Rochester Children's Outdoor Bill of Rights and the City’s commitment to breaking down barriers to nature for city youth. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Rochester’s Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights (COBOR) is a community informed list of nature-based activities that every child should have the opportunity to explore.
