News Release - Midtown Rochester Rising Project Re-Opens Midtown Tower RFP

City of Rochester

News Release

(Thursday, June 4, 2009) - The City has issued an addendum to its Request for Proposals (RFP) for the sale and adaptive reuse of the Midtown Tower. The addendum re-opens the time period by which proposals must be submitted for consideration by the City. The initial RFP for the Tower sale and re-use was issued on December 4, 2008 with proposals due by March 2, 2009. Two proposals were received for the redevelopment of the tower and after review, the City determined that additional and/or clarification of information was needed from both of the development teams who made submissions.

Specifically, the City is requesting that project pro forma information and development cost estimates be submitted in a specific format and reiterated that historic tax credits should not be considered for the project, nor should any design proposal include retention of the existing tower facade. The Addendum also highlighted that the project may be eligible for funding consideration under N.Y. State’s Upstate Regional Blueprint Fund.

Developers are required to submit all information required in the original RFP and addendum. Revised and new proposals must be submitted to the City by July 1. The addendum can be found online at www.midtownrochesterrising.com.
