News Release - Arson Arrest for Alexander Street Fire

(Wednesday, March 3, 2009) -Today the Rochester Fire Department’s Arson Task Force charged a Derome G. West, 44 year old male, with Arson 2nd (B Felony). Mr. West is accused of tampering with the natural gas pipes in the basement of 176 Alexander Street and starting a fire after being evicted. The occupied structure contained more than 10 apartment units.

The Rochester Fire Department responded on January 21st at 10:39 hours for the fire alarm activation with a fire in the basement. Fire damage was confined to the basement and no injuries were reported.

Mr. West is currently in the Monroe County Jail awaiting arraignment.
