The Market today is one of the most interesting places in Rochester. But it also has a fascinating history going back over a century. To share this history, the Friends of the Rochester Public Market offer free tours to elementary school classes, youth organizations, and daycare groups. While the majority of the tours are for elementary school age youth, they can be adapted for older youth and adult groups.
Tours can be scheduled on Thursdays between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. from mid-April through the end of October. The hour-long tour highlights the history of the Market, its importance in the community, and ideas for buying and eating healthy!
Seasonal Market Bounty nutrition packets are sent prior to the tours. Included in this resource are fun ways to encourage healthy eating with youth, kid-friendly recipes and a “Treasure Hunt” that encourages youth to explore the bounty of the Market.
For information or to schedule a tour, or to request a copy of the Seasonal Market Bounty nutrition packets, please call 585-325-5058 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
