News Release - School-based Recreation Centers to Close Wednesday, Four to offer Special Programming Saturday

(Monday, Nov. 25, 2013) – City Community and Recreation Centers that share space with Rochester City Schools will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 27 along with their host schools for the Thanksgiving holiday. All other Community and Recreation Centers will operate from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The centers to be closed Wednesday are:

• No. 17 School Recreation Center, 158 Orchard St.
• No. 41 School Recreation Center, 279 W. Ridge Rd.
• No. 42 School Recreation Center, 3330 Lake Ave.
• No. 43 School Recreation Center, 1305 Lyell Ave.
• Pierpont Recreation Center at School No. 7, 31 Bryan St.
• Field Street Recreation Center (School 35), 194 Field St.

All Community and Recreation Centers will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Four centers will offer special programming on Saturday, Nov. 30.

• The Avenue D Community Center, 200 Avenue D., will host a field trip to Rochester Museum and Science Center. Please pre-register by Wednesday at 5 p.m. by calling 428-7934 Bus transportation will depart from the center at 1 p.m. and return at 3 p.m.
• The Flint Street Community Center, 271 Flint St. will host a free family roller skating party from 1 to 3 p.m.
• The Ryan Community Center, 530 Webster Ave., will host free family roller skating party from 3 to 5 p.m.
• The Adams Street Pool, 85 Adams St., will host the inaugural Splash Bash Thankswimming Celebration, an aquatic re-enactment of the traditional story of the first Thanksgiving, followed by a free family swim with snacks and beverages. Activities run from 1 to 3 p.m. Please pre-register by 5 p.m. Wednesday at 5 p.m. by calling 428-7456.
