City Issues Requests for Proposals for Summer Entertainment

(Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014) – The City is seeking requests for proposals for the production and management of the Rochester SummerFest and the ROC the Park Urban Music Festival, each to take place during the summer of 2015.

For Rochester SummerFest, the selected proposal would receive a one-year contract, with the possibility of extension up to two additional years. SummerFest is a weekend event in a large venue with an urban appeal, with an emphasis on national talent.

For ROC the Park Urban Music Festival, the selected proposal would receive a one-year contract, with the possibility of extension up to two additional years. ROC the Park is a series of three Friday night events at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park with an emphasis on regional and local talent.

Qualifications must include:

• Prior experience booking and promoting national talent (for SummerFest) and regional and local talent (for ROC the Park) that will attract an urban audience; 

• Prior experience providing comprehensive event management and production services; 

• Listing of representative prior bookings and event descriptions including references; 

• Experience dealing with a diverse variety of people in an effective manner; 

• Experience in logistics, stage management, budgeting, marketing for large scale events.

A detailed description of requirements and proposal content can be found in each request for proposal. Proposers may respond to one or both requests. Proposals should be submitted by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015.
