Motorist Advisory - Forecasted Snowfall May Impact Evening Commute

City of Rochester

Motorist Advisory

(Friday, March 3, 2023) – Mayor Malik D. Evans is asking motorists to use extra caution during this evening’s commute. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 5 p.m. this afternoon until 10 a.m., Saturday, March 4.

Total snow accumulations could reach 4 to 8 inches with wind gusts of up to 35 mph. Periods of snow and sleet could make travel difficult with snow covered roads and limited visibility. Drivers should slow down and give plow trucks plenty of space.

Residents are asked to make sure they adhere to the alternate-side parking regulations. During and after snow events, just one car parked on the wrong side of the street can impede plow trucks. Residents are also reminded that it is illegal to shovel or plow snow onto the street, sidewalk, or public right of way. Residents can track snow plow trucks in real time by visiting www.cityofrochester.gov/plowtrax.

“It is challenging to plow roads in heavy commuter traffic,” said Mayor Evans. “I ask all of our motorists to exercise patience and allow extra time to get where they need to go. As always, I thank our plow truck operators, who work tirelessly during winter weather to keep our roads open and our families safe.”
