News Release - After School in the Park Program Hosts Open House, Begins Registration for 2011-2012 School Year

(Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011) – Registration is now open for those looking to enroll their children in the After School in the Park program. Program organizers will be hosting an After School in the Park open house on Thursday, Aug. 25 for interested parents and guardians. The event will be held in the Lake Riley Lodge from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Visitors can examine the program site, learn about program activities and logistics and meet the staff. Snacks will be provided.

The After School in the Park program, held at Lake Riley Lodge in Cobb’s Hill Park, provides an array of after-school activities for youth ages 6 through 13. This year’s program runs from Sept. 6 through June 22, 2012 each weekday from 2 to 6:30 p.m.

Essential information and registration forms can be found at the Department of Recreation and Youth Services office, 400 Dewey Ave. They can also be found on the City’s website at www.cityofrochester.gov/afterschoolprogram.

•School bus drop-off (must be arranged directly with child’s school)
•Extended hours (2 to 6:30 p.m.)
•Fitness and arts activities
•Healthy snacks and hot meals
•Homework help
•Field trips
•Well-trained and friendly staff
•Great location in one of Rochester’s finest parks
•Only $65 per child, per week (siblings $55)
•Winter/Spring Break availability, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., $125 per week
