News Release - Mayor Announces new ROC the Park Concert Series

(Wednesday, July 23, 2014)—Mayor Lovely A. Warren today announced that Roc the Park Concerts will take place July 26, Aug. 22 and Sept. 6 in Martin Luther King Jr. Park at Manhattan Square.

“During the summer months and all year long, it is our pleasure to bring new and exciting events for everyone to enjoy,” said Mayor Warren. “Roc the Park adds to our legacy as the City of the Arts. Bring your family and friends and enjoy a night of great music.”

“An Evening of Neo-Soul” will take place on Saturday, July 26 featuring local musicians Black August and Tamara Cherubin as well as Bentlee Wright and Will Holton from Buffalo. “A Tribute to Motown” will take place on Friday, August 22 and “A Day of Gospel” will be held on Saturday, September 6.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and the shows start at 6 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

All tickets are $5 and are available at Ticketmaster.com (with associated fees) or in person at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial box office, 100 Exchange Blvd., and on the day of the show at the gate on a cash-only basis.

Patrons may bring one sealed bottle of water into ROC the Park. Individual lawn chairs (no canopy tops or doubles) will be allowed. Picnic baskets, bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates and pets will not be allowed in.

Manhattan Square Park is located at the corner of Chestnut Street and Court Street Downtown.

Parking is available at nearby parking garages including the Washington Square Garage, 111 Woodbury Boulevard, the Court Street Garage, 194 Court Street and at the East End Garage, 475 E. Main Street, as well as on street in the area.

ROC the Park is sponsored by the City of Rochester, Roc Royal Entertainment, Feel Safe Security, In-Control Teen Program and Roc Candy Media, and is produced by Carlton Wilcox LIVE.
