City’s Black Heritage Committee to Host Gospel Fridays Concert at City Hall

(Wednesday, February 11, 2015) - The City’s Black Heritage Committee invites the public to attend the second of four, free “Gospel Fridays” concerts in celebration of Black Heritage Month from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, February 13 in the City Hall Atrium, 30 Church St.

This week’s concert features Julius Dicks and Friends. Julius has been the minister of music for several large congregations including, First Genesis Baptist Church, Baber A.M.E. Church, St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, and many other local churches. He is a native of South Carolina, but has been a resident of Rochester since the early 70s and has performed in more than 20 states across the country. Julius Dicks and Friends are a combination of gospel artists from the Greater Rochester area that have performed together over the past three decades.

Gospel Fridays take place each Friday in February as part of the Black Heritage Committee’s program of events celebrating our nation’s Black heritage.

This year’s theme “A Century of Black History, Life and Culture,” marks the 100th Anniversary of Black History Month.

The remaining Gospel Fridays concerts are scheduled as follows:


• 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, February 20: Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Male Chorus

• 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, February 27: Immaculate Conception / St. Bridget’s Church Choir
