Historic Rochester

The year 2009 marked the 175th anniversary of Rochester, and the City has been diligent in the collection and maintenance of its historical written and visual records, which are accessible to the public. The local history and genealogy section of the downtown Central Library provides a wide array of information on individual citizens and such historical city residents as Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass. Our City's archive and photography collection holds a wealth of historical data, including 19th century maps and surveys and the minutes of proceedings by the Rochesterville Board of Trustees.
