About the Bureau of Treasury
Through the provision of quality customer service to the taxpayers of Rochester, the Treasury Bureau supports the City of Rochester’s Mission, Vision and Values by safeguarding liquidity and yield as it relates to investment, collection, and disbursement of taxpayer dollars while upholding the highest ethical standards.
The Bureau is composed of four units: Administration & Cash Management, Cash Control, Mail & Messenger Services and Tax Accounting.

What we do:
- Prepare the City’s annual property tax bill
- Collect revenues for tax, water, refuse, and other receivables
- Maintain the City’s cash ledger
- Invest and safeguard taxpayer dollars
- Disburse City funds as directed, including payments to City vendors
- Conduct the annual tax foreclosure sale
