The Rochester Police Department (RPD) is commanded by City of Rochester Police Chief David M. Smith and appointed staff, including the  Deputy Chief of Administration, Deputy Chief of Operations, Chief of Staff  and Professional Standards Section. The Office of the Chief of Police is responsible for managing the entire Department and overseeing internal investigations and initiatives regarding police-community relations. It is of the utmost importance for the RPD to remain transparent to the community for which we are sworn to protect and serve.

Mission: To Reduce Crime, to Protect and Serve the Citizens of Rochester, to Uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New York.
