Temporary location for Maplewood Community Library

As the Maplewood Community Library is closed to the public while it undergoes a major expansion and renovation project, starting on July 8, 2024, an alternative service location for library patrons will be available at the former Holy Rosary church, located at 414 Lexington Ave. The temporary location will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.

Visitors can browse an all-ages library collection, and have access to computers, a copier, a fax machine, and be able to scan documents. Regular library programming and summer reading will take place at the site.

It is anticipated that the Maplewood Community Library will re-open in the spring of 2026. Renovations to the 65-year-old facility feature a new addition that will add 2,666 square feet to the library and include expanded, designated spaces for teens, adults, and children. The property will receive a new entrance facing Dewey Avenue, as well as new classroom and meeting spaces, updated restrooms, a new, secure children’s outdoor play area, a new parking lot, new lighting, and more.

Community input from staff and library users—including a children’s design committee—helped guide the priorities and design for the project. For more information about the renovations, please click the button below.
