Street Preaching in the City of Rochester
The First Amendment protects your right to freedom of speech. This includes speech related to religion. While the City of Rochester does not issue, nor require you to have a street preaching permit, please adhere to the following:
- You may preach on City right-of-way including on sidewalks and parks.
- If preaching on sidewalks, you must maintain 5 ft. of sidewalk space in order avoid disruption of pedestrian traffic.
- You may not block access to the sidewalk or nearby doorways, driveways, bus stops, curb cuts, etc.
- Please be respectful of the neighbors and businesses around you. Be cooperative if issues arise.
