Eastman Trail - Phase I
About the project
The City of Rochester has designed a new trail – the Eastman Trail. The Eastman Trail presents a unique opportunity to establish significant connections to the larger regional trail system. This trail is the first phase of an east/west connection between the City’s Genesee Riverway Trail at Kings Landing and the State’s Route 390 Trail in the Town of Greece. Eventually the trail could extend further west through the Town of Greece, utilizing the City owned former canal corridor, crossing Long Pond Road and connecting to the Erie Canalway Trail.
The Phase I project constructed a physically separated off-road trail between Latona Road in the west and Weiland Road and on-road bike lanes from Weiland Road to Mt. Read Boulevard in the east.
This project supports state, regional and citywide trail and alternative transportation efforts. This trail also begins the establishment of significant urban/suburban loops: a northern route utilizing the Eastman Trail, Route 390 Trail, Lake Ontario State Parkway Trail and the Genesee Riverway Trail; and a southern route utilizing the Eastman Trail, planned Route 390 Trail, Erie Canalway Trail and the Genesee Riverway Trail.

The Eastman Trail connects on its western end to the Route 390 Trail extension designed and constructed by the NYS Department of Transportation. The project developed a new trail segment extending the Route 390 trail from Ridge Road (Route 104) in the north to Ridgeway Avenue in the south, where it connects to the Eastman Trail.
