NY Citizen Preparedness Training Program

-

Event Details

Rochester residents are invited to learn the best steps to take and supplies to have on hand in the event of natural or manmade disasters at the New York State Citizen Preparedness Corps training class that will be offered at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 25 at the Thomas P. Ryan R-Center, 530 Webster Ave.

The Citizen Preparedness Corps training program was developed in 2014 by the New York Division of Homeland Security to provide residents tools and resources to be ready for any type of disaster or emergency, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible.

The trainings are led by members of the N.Y. National Guard working with experts from the Division’s Office of Emergency Management and Office of Fire Prevention and Control.

The course provides an introduction on how to respond to a natural or human-caused disaster. Topics include signing up for emergency alert notifications, developing family emergency plans and stocking up on emergency supplies.

Each family that participates will be provided a free N.Y. State Disaster Preparedness Kit with examples of key items that will be useful in the immediate aftermath of a disaster.

When: Thursday, July 25 at 6 p.m.
Where: Tomas P Ryan R-Center, 530 Webster Ave.
