Rochester to celebrate Hanukkah and Kwanzaa at City Hall this week
Kwanzaa
The Rochester Kwanzaa Coalition will transform City Hall’s atrium for their annual Kwanzaa celebration, featuring music, dance performances, vendors, and a special tribute to honor a community elder. Kwanzaa festivities highlight the principles of unity, self-determination, and collective work and responsibility that Kwanzaa represents. City Hall’s Kwanzaa celebration is open to the public. Mayor Evans will give remarks at approximately 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 26.
Hanukkah
Mayor Evans will join Rabbi Nechemia Vogel for the annual Hanukkah menorah lighting ceremony in Rochester City Hall's atrium on December 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. This cherished tradition continues in celebration of the Festival of Lights, with the menorah as a powerful symbol of hope, perseverance, and religious freedom.
