Rochester has more than 3,500 acres of nationally recognized parks where you can explore, play, rest or entertain!
Some of these parks were designed by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, designer of New York's Central Park.
Rochester's parks offer active and passive forms of recreation, from organized sports facilities and playgrounds, to scenic overlooks and trails for solitary walks and jogs.
Our park amenities include picnic areas, lodges, playgrounds, ball fields and tennis courts. Some include sandy beaches, ice-skating rinks and pools.

Aberdeen Square Park
Aberdeen Square, located in the southwest quadrant's 19th Ward neighborhood, is a large grassy open space. It is commonly used as a field for soccer or football, as a gathering spot for neighborhood games, and local school activities. It also plays host to the annual Aberdeen Square Fair.
Brown Square Park
Adjacent to Kodak's headquarters, Brown Square Park is located on the site of the original Brown Brothers' Tract. Brown Square Park was designed by the firm of famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted
This quiet park is the perfect spot for a lunchtime picnic or short stroll. Since Rochester Animal Services is located close by, it is not unusual to see volunteers walking dogs around the paths at Brown Square Park.
Browncroft Rose Garden Park
37 Merchants Rd. Rochester, NY 14610
Browncroft Rose Garden, located in the city's northeast area, is a grassy space with a collection of antique rose varieties and a gazebo that allows you to sit back and take it all in. The small park is made possible thanks to the dedication of the active and committed local neighborhood group. It truly creates a beautiful entryway to the historic Browncroft Neighborhood.
Cobb's Hill Park and Washington Grove

Cobb's Hill Park is located in the city's south east area and features 109 acres of beauty, recreation, and scenic trails. At the park's highest point, a walking trail offers one of the best views of the city. At road level, a collection of lilacs and original tree plantings makes this park a horticultural gem. During summer nights, Cobb's Hill Park bustles with players from local softball leagues.
Conkey Corner Park and El Camino Trail

Conkey Corner Park and El Camino Trail is the result of the dedication of the Genesee Land Trust, which had the vision of turning an old railroad right of way into a recreational trail. The GLT worked with the City of Rochester to create the trail and also a new neighborhood park at the corner of Conkey and Clifford Avenues. The park includes a state of the art playground, benches, and gardens.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park at Manhattan Square

Located in the East End District of downtown Rochester and adjacent to the Strong Museum, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Park (formally Manhattan Square Park) is a popular gathering place. The year-round park has been the busy home to a wide range of visitors from families from throughout the region to downtown workers on their lunch breaks.
Durand Eastman Beach
1342 Lakeshore Boulevard, Rochester NY, 14617
Durand Eastman Beach on Lake Ontario is part of Durand Eastman Park. The beach boasts 5,000 feet of Lake Ontario waterfront; the Park also features steep wooded slopes, valleys, scenic vistas, small lakes, spring flowering trees and wildlife including swans, turkeys, and fox; and spectacular fall foliage colors.
Swimming is supervised by beach guards in its designated area (Lot A). All staff are trained in lifesaving, First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
The Beach is currently open for swimming, 12 noon to 6 p.m., seven days a week in the summer. During Cool Sweeps, the Beach will remain open for an extra hour, until 7 p.m.

Farmington Park

Farmington Park, located in the southeast quadrant's North Winton Village, sports public tennis courts and a ball field.

Located in the city's northeast quadrant, this park features a playground and water "sprayground" in the summer!
Genesee Crossroads-Charles Carroll Park

Located in downtown Rochester, this beautiful scenic park spans the Genesee River just south of High Falls, close to Main Street. Crossroads Park is a popular lunchtime spot for downtown workers who relax and enjoy the scenic view while taking a break from the daily grind. Benches and picnic areas are available.
Genesee Gateway Park

Located in the southeast quadrant of the city, Gateway Park is a scenic sliver of land located along the river between the Ford Street Bridge and downtown Rochester.
The Genesee Riverway Trail, running through the park, connects the park to the University of Rochester to the south and downtown to the north. The park also features a small playground, basketball courts, excellent fishing locations, and car-top boat launch (equipped to handle canoes, kayaks, etc.). Facilities include: benches, bike trail, picnic area and hiking trail.
Genesee Valley Park

Along with Highland and Seneca Parks, Genesee Valley Park was designed by famed landscape architect Frederic Law Olmsted. Olmsted highlighted the the naturally occurring, rolling pastoral fields of the area when he planned the 800+ acre park. A favorite spot for golfers, crew teams, kayakers, and cross-country skiers, Genesee Valley Park is one of the oldest parks in the area.
Highland Park
Highland Park rests in a beautiful setting of hills and valleys created from glacial deposits. Best known as the home of Rochester's famous Lilac Festival, Highland Park has a history as colorful as its 500 varieties of flowering shrubs. The Lilac Festival, held in May each year, draws visitors from all over the world to see Highland Park's collection of lilacs in full bloom.
Jones Square Park
Occupying a six-acre block in the northwest quadrant of the city, Jones Square Park is a restful, relaxing green space. In its early days, the park was used as marching grounds for Civil War soldiers and was one of Rochester's earliest baseball fields. Later, the park was redesigned by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. This neighborhood park has benches, a running/jogging track, and plenty of trees to shade you from the warm summer sun.
JR Wilson Park
Located in the northwest quadrant of the city, this neighborhood park provides ample recreation options, such as: fields for football or soccer, an outdoor basketball court, tennis courts, and a playground. This park is a popular spot for neighbors.
Lunsford Circle Park

Located in the Corn Hill neighborhood on the city's southwest side, Lunsford Circle is named for an early prominent African American physician.
The beautifully-designed circle has a gazebo that serves as a stage for musicians during the summertime Corn Hill Arts Festival and doubles as a meeting place for neighbors year-round.
Maplewood Park and Rose Garden

Located in the northwest quadrant of the city, Maplewood Park is one of two original parks laid out by Frederick Law Olmsted to highlight the Genesee River. Breathtaking scenic views make this park a must-see spot in Rochester. The diverse park stretches alongside two miles of Lake Avenue. Over the years, the spirit of involvement by the Maplewood Community Association has enhanced the beauty and enjoyment of the park.
Ontario Beach Park
Ontario Beach Park is located in the northwest quadrant of the City on the shores of Lake Ontario. This 39-acre park contains one of the Great Lakes' best natural sand beaches. Whether taking a romantic stroll along the picturesque pier, riding the 1905 Dentzel Menagerie Carousel, boating, or picnicking, Ontario Beach Park provides everything for a perfect summer — or winter — day at the beach. Pulaski Park
Nearly 7 acres of open space is used by neighbors for walking, games, picnics and relaxing.
Sebastian Park
Bordering Stenson Street, Sebastian Park is a green space that has received $300,000 in improvements in 2011. The park is dedicated to Father Sebastian Contegiacomo, an Italian immigrant missionary of the Precious Blood who served Most Precious Blood Parish.
Seneca Park
Originally North Park, this three-mile preserve of forested river gorge, was renamed Seneca (which means "stone") to recognize its Native American heritage as well as the deeply cut stone in the river gorge. Another of Frederick Law Olmsted's works of living art, the park includes Trout Lake, created by damming a natural spring.
The Seneca Park Zoo was established in the park in 1894, and draws guests from all over the region. Be transported around the world as you come face to face with African elephants, southern white rhinos, red pandas, snow leopards, an Amur tiger, and much more

Susan B. Anthony Square Park
Located off West Main Street just west of downtown, the park is situated close to the home of Susan B. Anthony. It is a perfect place to rest after a visit to the Susan B. Anthony Museum. The park's focal point is a bronzed sculpture called "Let's Have Tea." The work portrays Ms. Anthony and Frederick Douglass, two early local champions of civil rights. The famous suffragist and abolitionist were close friends who shared the common goals of social justice and civil rights. Now they share a proud place in Rochester's history.
Troup Street Park

Located in the heart of the city, Troup Street Park has something to offer for everyone, from basketball to a refreshing water spray area in the summer! The area also features an elephant-shaped water spray where kids can test their climbing skills while cooling off in the summer. The eco-friendly "elephant" is solar powered and uses only fresh water. Tryon Park West

Located off Winton Road North, Tryon Park is an athletic destination in the city's northeast quadrant. Numerous fields attract Little League and softball teams and basketball, tennis courts and play apparatus are widely used by neighbors. Tryon Park is managed by Monroe County Parks. Turning Point Park, Trail, and Rain Garden
Located in the Charlotte neighborhood near Lake Ontario on Rochester's northwest side, Turning Point Park covers 275 wooded acres along the banks of the Genesee River. Hiking and biking trails will help you discover the park's distinct areas, from the wooded oak forest called "Bullock's Woods" to the cattail lined shores of the river. Enjoy the nature watching and beautiful river views from its trails.
Washington Square Park
Located downtown near GEVA Theater, Washington Park is a quiet greenspace with benches that is dedicated to the veterans of the armed services. It features a beautiful monument to Abraham Lincoln. Besides being a favorite spot for lunchtime picnics, Washington Square is the home to summer concerts and various ceremonies.
