Rochester bond ratings stable, updated by Standard & Poor’s global ratings

Mayor Malik D. Evans announced today that Standard & Poor’s Global Ratings (S&P) has assigned its ‘AA-’ long term rating to Rochester’s 2024 series I $39.3 million general obligation (GO) bonds. S&P Global Ratings has also assigned its ‘SP-1+’ short term rating to the City’s series 2024 II $17.9 million bond anticipation notes (BANS). In addition, S&P affirmed their ‘AA-’ and ‘SP-1+’ ratings on Rochester’s GO and short term debt outstanding. The outlook is stable.

Statement by Mayor Malik D. Evans on the passing of Iris Banister

(Tuesday, March 12, 2024) – It is truly a sad day for Rochester. I had the great privilege of knowing Iris Banister, who was one of Rochester’s most fervent and beloved advocates for our citizens. Her commitment and dedication to peace and nonviolence, education and multi-cultural relations in her professional and personal life will be an example to the Rochester community for generations to come.

City R-Centers adjust hours to accommodate children affected by boil-water notice, school closure

City of Rochester R-Centers will adjust their hours Wednesday to accommodate students during a Rochester City School District closure prompted by the Highland Park Reservoir Boil-Water Notice affecting parts of Rochester.

All City R-Centers will be open until noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday with the exception of two that will open earlier. They are: the Trenton and Pamela Jackson R-Center, 485 N. Clinton, open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and the David F. Gantt R-Center, 700 North St., open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Mayor Evans provides briefing regarding emergency response on Seneca Ave.

Today, Mayor Malik D. Evans discussed the Nov. 30 emergency response to a City of Rochester resident who was experiencing a medical crisis. That person died more than two weeks later.

Mayor Evans has called for AMR to conduct its own in-depth investigation into what happened that night. In addition, Rochester Police Chief David Smith has called for an immediate internal investigation of the incident by RPD’s Professional Standards Section.
