City R-Centers to host 'R-Nopoly' family friendly day of fun, play, community connection at Parcel 5
The City of Rochester R-Centers invite residents and visitors to attend R-Nopoly, a free, family friendly celebration featuring fun activities, entertainment and information about Rochester’s many community resources. Inspired by the popular “Main Game” festival from the late 1990s and early 2000s, R-Nopoly will transform Parcel 5 into a giant, one-stop recreation extravaganza from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 285 E. Main St.
R-Nopoly will feature an afternoon full of activities for all ages, including:
- Stage entertainment throughout the event;
- Interactive booths highlighting community resources, with a special focus on the Department of Recreation and Human Services (DRHS) programs;
- Inflatables and carnival-style games;
- Food trucks and concessions with delicious carnival snacks;
- Basketball Hot Shots and 3-Point Competition;
- And much more!
These and many other family activities flourish daily at City R-Centers and attendees will be able to sample the vast array of programs and win prizes by visiting R-Center booths using the R-Nopoly passport. Booths and demonstrations will highlight the diverse athletic, cultural, asset-building, and social activities found at City R-Centers, such as:
- R-Chef Club (Avenue D R-Center, Ages 6-17);
- Paint and Bake Ceramics (Edgerton R-Center, Ages 6-16);
- Adult Roller Skate Night (Willie W. Lightfoot R-Center, Ages 18+);
- Wheelchair Basketball (Trenton & Pamela Jackson R-Center, All Ages), and
- Men of Impact (Thomas P. Ryan R-Center, Ages 13-18).
The booths will also feature the Adams Street, Carter Street, Frederick Douglass, David F. Gantt, and Hope R-Centers, giving the public an opportunity to meet recreation staff and learn about their neighborhood R-Centers. The Mayor's Office of Financial Empowerment, College Assistance Plus, YVOV: The Mayor's Youth Advisory Council, and the Ubuntu Project will also staff booths.
Come enjoy exciting games, connect with vital community resources, and create lasting memories. For more information send an email to: RCenterInfo@CityofRochester.gov.
