Portions of Church and Fitzhugh Streets Downtown to close Thursday through Sunday

The exterior façade of City Hall will undergo inspection work Thursday through Sunday, requiring the closure of streets and sidewalks adjacent to the building. 

Access to City Hall will be maintained at the Fitzhugh Street entrance throughout this period. Signage will be posted to direct pedestrians safely into the building. The closures will take place during the daylight hours.

  • Thursday and Friday, Dec. 12 & 13: Church Street — from Pindle Alley to Fitzhugh Street — will be closed in both directions to motorists. Pedestrians will be able to use the sidewalk on the south side of the Church Street. Church Street’s westbound lane will be closed at State Street.
  • Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 14 & 15:  Fitzhugh Street— from Church Street to the City Hall Link entrance — will be closed in both directions to motorists. Pedestrians will be able to use the sidewalk on the west side of Fitzhugh Street.
