The November series for the Thursday Thinkers: Insights into Rochester discussion series continues this week under the theme Holiday Food, Shopping and Cooking from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the City of Rochester Public Market Education Nutrition Center, 280 N. Union St.

Participants at each event can have their names entered into a drawing for $10 in Public Market Tokens. The Market Nutrition Education Center is located in the B Shed.

The remaining November Thursday Thinkers schedule, topics and presenting partners is as follows:

  • Nov. 14: Shopping at the Foodlink Curbside Market. When, How and Where? This will provide information on Foodlink’s mobile shopping vehicle for areas with limited access to fresh, healthy foods; and will also include a cooking demonstration with tastings featuring healthy holiday appetizers. The presenting partner is Florence Clemmons, manager of Foodlink’s Curbside Market, and Foodlink nutrition educators.
  • Nov. 21: Cooking a Healthy Thanksgiving Dinner. Participants will learn how to “lighten up” their holiday dinner with entrees and side dishes that are healthy and delicious. Tastings are included. The presenting partner is Jason Stewart, a registered dietician.

Thursday Thinkers is an adult- and family-enrichment series hosted by the City’s Department of Recreation and Human Services (DRHS). Each event will feature discussions with representatives from government and community agencies, programs, and other resources. Events are held on at least two Thursday evenings each month at a City R-Center or recreation facility. A different theme is covered each month.
