Water Maps and Survey Information

The Bureau of Water makes records and information available relating to:

  • materials, sizes, and locations of City water mains and water services,
  • reduced pressure zone backflow preventer specifications,
  • new service permit specifications & fees,
  • and hydrant use permits & fees.

Street Sweeping

All arterial and residential streets in the City of Rochester are flushed and swept. Early season sweeping begins in the spring, as sweepers clean the debris that accumulated during the winter months.

How often are streets swept?

From May until October, streets are swept on a designated schedule:

Introduction 

The City of Rochester was awarded United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (USEPA) Brownfield Grant Program multipurpose grant funding to complete Environmental Cleanup and Environmental Assessment projects at two City-owned properties located at 42 York Street and 835-855 West Main Street, respectively.

Household hazardous waste

Hazardous waste is a solid waste or combination of solid wastes that, because of quantity, concentration or physical, chemical, or infectious characteristics, may cause or significantly contribute to an increase in mortality or an increase in serious illness, or pose a substantial hazard to human health or the environment. A substance is hazardous if it ignites easily, can react or explode when mixed with other substances, is corrosive, or is toxic.
