RPD: Police Overt Digital Surveillance System

In 2008, the Rochester Police Department (RPD) announced a beneficial crime-fighting tool used to increase the protection of our citizens and the safety of our officers. The City of Rochester purchased 50 surveillance cameras that are strategically located throughout the City based on developed crime data. Surveillance cameras provide the RPD with an added tool for keeping City streets safe.

History of the Rochester Police Department

The earliest beginnings of the Rochester Police Department (RPD) and its motto — Serving with PRIDE - Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, Excellence — in the City of Rochester, NY, can be traced to March 21, 1817, when Colonel Nathaniel Rochester founded this growing mill town carved from the forests of western New York along the Genesee River, which became the Village of Rochesterville. 

Trail Blazer Site

This 2.66-acre site is close to downtown, Kodak Tower, and the city’s two multi-purpose stadiums, and has easy access to Interstate 490. The local neighborhood provides a pool of potential employees. The site is ideal for industrial, commercial, or community service development, preferably with ample job opportunities for city residents.
