Introduction  

The Former Emerson Street Landfill (FESL) is a closed municipal solid waste landfill located in the western portion of the City of Rochester, bounded by Lexington Avenue to the north, Lee Road to the west, Ferrano Street to the south, and Colfax Street to the east.

Electronic waste (e-waste) items include unwanted cell phones, TVs, laptops, desktops, computer accessories, monitors, printers, scanners, VCRs, DVDs, CD players, radios video game consoles, servers/IT equipment, and other devices with a circuit board or cord.

About the Program

The City of Rochester provides lighting for City-owned streets. The City replaces damaged or obsolete poles, and arranges for the upgrading of lighting when necessary. Currently, when a pole is slated for replacement, a more energy-efficient version of the street light is erected in its place.

Upon request, the City may relocate existing light poles. However, residents are required to pay the costs of relocation. Generally, this request accompanies a site plan review or a Right-of-Way permit.
