Bull's Head Revitalization Project

Introduction

The Bull’s Head Revitalization Project represents years of neighborhood-based planning driven by a strong commitment from residents, other stakeholders, and the City of Rochester to catalyze revitalization and redevelopment in Bull’s Head, a community with a prominent history that has experienced significant disinvestment over several decades. The planning process identified a number of core principles for revitalization, including:

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

The City of Rochester installed thirty-six charging ports in City parking lots and garages to accelerate the introduction of electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) charging stations throughout the city and to promote the adoption of EVs and PHEVs by the public. The stations were funded with grants from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

How it works

RPD: Waterway Watch Program

Additional Eyes and Ears on America's Waterways

The Rochester Police Department (RPD) supports participation in America's Waterway Watch Program, which encourages private boaters to be vigilant for suspicious activity on America's Waterways, particularly suspected terrorist activity.

An important component of the program involves knowing what to look for, where to look, and what to do upon observing suspicious activity.

What to look for

Suspicious activities can include:

City Council Memorializing Resolutions

Memorializing Resolutions are non-binding items signed by members of City Council which amplify the voice of Council beyond its direct jurisdiction. These Resolutions aim to inform powers outside the City of Rochester, such as the New York State and Federal governments, of the will of City Council and urge them to act with Rochester in mind.

Below is a list of the memorializing resolutions transmitted by Rochester City Council, available to download.

Pueblo Nuevo Group Street Rehabilitation Project

About the Project

The Pueblo Nuevo Group Street Rehabilitation Project is named as a tribute to the Pueblo Nuevo affordable housing project that was completed in 2022 and borders the streets within the project area. The project is located in the CONEA (Coalition of NorthEast Associations) Neighborhood of the Northeast Quadrant, Upper Falls section, of the city of Rochester. CONEA is home to the International Plaza and St. Michael’s Church, an architectural gothic stone landmark built in 1890.

Environmental Institutional Control Process

Summary

The City of Rochester (City) has developed an Environmental Institutional Control (IC) system which “flags” properties which have undergone environmental cleanups, but still contain residual contamination. The Institutional Control system consists of a warning flag which is installed on affected properties within the City's computerized property management system that is utilized by the City's Bureau of Planning and Zoning when an individual applies for a City permit for activities such as new construction, new building additions or alterations of existing building
