Youth Leadership Career Business (YLCB)

YLCB: The Youth’s Best Guide to Leadership, Career Engagement and Business Education.

YLCB is a coalition of youth programs representing the expressive and advancement opportunities for the youth in Rochester, sponsored by the City of Rochester’s Department of Recreation and Human Services: Youth Services Unit.

Get at least $1,000 for the program year! 

Biz Kid$ 

Although we ensure that scholars know the ins and outs of youth entrepreneurship. We also teach scholars to build and develop new and old skills. Some skills that we work on are as follows: 

  • Leadership 
  • Social Communication 
  • Creativity 
  • Public Speaking
  • Professionalism 
  • Graphic Design  

After learning entrepreneurship skills through a week-long camp, participants can apply to become Biz Kid$ Reals to work with our campers.

Mayor's Youth Academy (MYA)

M.Y.A. provides career skills training for interns during the school year, preparing them for 6–8 weeks of summer employment. The program includes regular check-ins with youth and their mentors. Interns may have weekend assignments depending on their worksite and can gain experience in various city departments, such as the Department of Recreation and Human Services, the Department of Human Resources, and the Department of Environmental Services, among others.

Youth Voice One Vision (YVOV): The Mayor's Youth Advisory Council

Youth Voice, One Vision is a group of young people who represent the voice and issues of the youth in Rochester as the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council. Our committees are working together to create opportunities, events and activities that inspire change, and unite our community positively!
