Lighting of the Liberty Pole & Parade to Roc Holiday Village

Kick off the holiday season with the Lighting of the Liberty Pole and Family Parade to the ROC Holiday Village!

The annual Lighting of the Liberty Pole and Family Lantern Parade to the Roc Holiday Village at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park will take place at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7. Join Mayor Evans, City Councilmembers, Santa, the Prime Time Brass band, and other holiday costumed characters as they light the Liberty Pole at the corner of E. Main Street and Franklin Street. 

City R-Centers to host 'R-Nopoly' family friendly day of fun, play, community connection at Parcel 5

The City of Rochester R-Centers invite residents and visitors to attend R-Nopoly, a free, family friendly celebration featuring fun activities, entertainment and information about Rochester’s many community resources. Inspired by the popular “Main Game” festival from the late 1990s and early 2000s, R-Nopoly will transform Parcel 5 into a giant, one-stop recreation extravaganza from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 285 E. Main St. 

R-Nopoly will feature an afternoon full of activities for all ages, including:

City announces legislation for school bus stop arm enforcement

Mayor Malik D. Evans has introduced new legislation aimed at enhancing the safety of students in the city of Rochester by enforcing penalties for drivers who unlawfully pass school buses with stop arms engaged. The legislation establishes a local law authorizing penalties for overtaking and passing school buses while their stop arms are extended and red lights are flashing, in accordance with Sections 1174 and 1174-a of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL).

Holidays at the Market

A Rochester holiday tradition for over 25 years, Holidays at the Market features dozens of holiday-focused vendors selling fresh-cut trees and wreaths, decorations, specialty foods and beverage products, hand-crafted items, seasonal treats, and much more! 

During the Holidays, the Market is decked out in holiday lights, with festive music, and offers limitless local shopping and unique gift items. Kids can visit Santa from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. during the Sunday events, and everyone can enjoy free horse-drawn carriage rides from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
