The City offers a wide array of aquatic amenities and programs, including beaches, an Olympic-sized outdoor pool, several spray-play areas and year-round indoor pools. Programs include swim and boating lessons, organized water sports and parent-and-child events.

Winter Youth Swim Lesson
The City of Rochester offers Red Cross Levels 1-6
Fall swim lessons will begin in December at Adams & Jackson R-Center: Online registrations through R-Central.
During their swim lessons, children will spend time on the following six levels:
- Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills: Students will learn how to feel comfortable in the water and safely enjoy it.
- Level 2: Fundamentals of Aquatic Skills: Children will learn basic swimming skills.
- Level 3: Stroke Development: Additional guided practice will help students improve their skills.
- Level 4: Stroke Improvement: Kids will gain confidence during swim lessons, improve their stroke and gain additional aquatic skills.
- Level 5: Stroke Refinement: Guidance allows kids to refine their strokes and become more efficient swimmers.
- Level 6: Swimming and Skill Proficiency: Students will learn to swim with ease and efficiency, and gain the ability to swim smoothly over greater distances.

Lifeguard Development Course (This is not a lifeguard Course)
- IN THIS COURSE, STUDENTS WILL:
- Enhance their swimming abilities
- Develop advanced strokes and deep-water skills
- Practice in-water rescue techniques
- Prepare for the full lifeguard certification course
- Learning the fundamentals of first aid, CPR, and AED

Spray Parks-Closed for the Season
The City of Rochester operates seven spray parks and three parks with spray features to help keep residents cool on the hottest days.

- Durand Eastman Beach (City of Rochester) Swimming is permitted in a life-guarded area (Lot A) during open hours only.
- Ontario Beach Park (Monroe County)

Call for Lifeguards
