21 names to be added to Ancestors Tree on Thursday

Mayor Malik D. Evans will join the City of Rochester’s Black Heritage Committee at a ceremony to honor 21 recently deceased local African Americans who made significant contributions to the Rochester community. This is the second time the committee has added distinguished individuals to the “Ancestors Tree of Life” exhibit on the first floor of Rochester City Hall. 

The following people will be added to the tree: James Blount, Carolyn Blount, Len Redon, Walter Williams, Rev. Lewis Stewart, Rev Dr. John Walker, Constance Mitchell, Rev. Dr. James Evans, Rev. Delores Simpson,  Elder IV Nelson, Joseph Hall, Capt. Charles Price, Rev. Dr. Iris Bannister, Gloria Langston, Peter Bibby, David Gantt, Rev. Franklin Florence, Elder Curtis Rourke, bobby johnson, Rosa Wims and Dr. Alice Holloway Young
