Celebrating a new chapter for employee development: DHRM-Training Unit’s grand opening

On Tuesday, January 21st, the DHRM-Training Unit proudly celebrated the grand opening of their brand-new facility on the 4th floor of the Honorable Loretta C. Scott Center for Human Services at 57 St. Paul St.

The event was a lively affair, featuring open-house-style tours and a special ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mayor Malik Evans. Employees from across the City joined in to explore the new space and learn about its exciting opportunities.

The upgraded facility is a game-changer for training and development, boasting two dedicated training rooms (a large room accommodating up to 50 and a smaller room for 22) and a spacious conference room with seating for 15. To kick things off in style, the City’s Senior Management Team held their first meeting of 2025 in the new space, perfectly setting the stage for Mayor Evans to cut the ribbon officially.

At its core, the DHRM-Training Unit is dedicated to empowering employees through education and development. In partnership with Staffing and Labor Relations, the team ensures that every employee has the tools, knowledge, and support needed to thrive. From new hire orientation to skill-building and remedial training, the unit guides employees throughout their journey, fostering growth, retention, and readiness for promotion.

This commitment to excellence aligns with the City of Rochester’s mission, vision, and values, helping employees stay informed, engaged, and successful.
